what i’ve been up to, part one

Since it’s Facebook official, might as well make it website official.
I’m engaged to the coolest Uzbek in the world, Bek Ergashev.
Confession: I grew up Episcopalian, he grew up Muslim. Needless to say we’re making more than a few people angry (and worried) by deciding to get married. But it makes sense for us and we couldn’t be happier.
Tying this into digital things… wedding blogs. I’ve been reading a few regularly ever since I interned at Lulu and did a blogger outreach project for them. Among my absolute favorites are The Broke-Ass Bride, Bowie Bride, Green Wedding Shoes, Once Wed and Ruffled. OK.. Maybe more than a few.
These blogs have been far more useful than any wedding magazine (hello, nothing under 10 grand) or book out there. It’s real people talking about unique ideas instead of trying to sell you stuff. My personal all-time favorite is The Broke-Ass Bride… since I’m one of those myself.
On a separate note: Dana, the hilarious genius behind The Broke-Ass Bride, has an autoimmune disease that attacks her eyes. She’s asking for donations so that she can afford to keep her fabulous wedding blog alive, and I want to do all I can to ensure that happens. Check out her site. Read her story. See how awesome she is. If you’re so inclined, donate a buck or submit a recipe to save the coolest wedding blog out there (and to heal Dana!)

Taylor, Thank you! Wow, what a touching and exciting post. Congratulations on your engagement! You’re in for the ride of your life and if I can ever be of help, you let me know. I am thrilled to have your support, thanks so much for helping spread the word!
On a related note, are you still working with Lulu.com? We’re seeking a photobook partner to help with the hardcopy edition of the cookbook, and we’d love to talk to them about it
Thanks again, you rawk my bawlz!
I don’t actually work there anymore, but it sounds like something they might be interested in. I think you could email pr(at) lulu.com and see if you get a hit
Good luck with everything, and I love BAB fo’evaaaa
